Wishbone

In 2020, Conan Gray’s music gained popularity through TikTok, particularly through his hit song “Heather”. With fans now celebrating the date December 3rd following the lyrics, “Heather” brought a new source of exposure to his career. Conan didn’t stop there; he has expanded his discography since with 3 studio albums: “Superache”, “Found Haven”, and his newest one, “Wishbone”. Released on August 17th, 2025, gaining over 139 million streams on Spotify alone, “Wishbone” has introduced another beautiful and emotionally packed setlist for his most recent ongoing tour.

Gray first performed a song from Wishbone at the music festival “The Governor’s Ball” in Queens, New York.  Reporter Guerra was in the audience at the Governor's Ball, where fans heard “This Song” from “Wishbone” just before the album’s official release.“I felt very excited and happy because this would be the first time he would be performing anything from Wishbone,” explained Guerra. “It was amazing, I cried. It was the most amazing day of my life!” Guerra described the show as very artistic and on theme. The anticipation for the album grew since his first performance at the Governor’s Ball. The vulnerability of the lyrics in his music set the tone for the album's release, leaving fans eager for what was to come.

Following that unforgettable debut performance, “Wishbone” quickly cemented itself as one of Conan Gray's most mature and emotionally resonant projects to date. The album showcases Gray's evolution – not just as a pop artist, but as a storyteller unafraid to expose the fragility and chaos of growing up in the public eye. While his earlier albums like “Kid Krow” and “Superache” captured the pain of unrequited love and the search for identity, “Wishbone” feels like the next chapter: a reflection on acceptance, heartbreak and healing.

Sonically, the album blends Conan’s signature melancholic pop style with more experimental production. Tracks like “This song” and “Vodka cranberry” feature upbeat sounds with catchy lyrics leading listeners to feel happiness even within heartbreaking lyrics.  Lyrically, “Wishbone” continues the theme of Conan's writing style. The album is written with the same amount of vulnerability that made “Heather” which touched so many hearts due to the relatability of the lyrics. However, “Wishbone” takes the next step with two tracks in the album. “Romeo” expresses the anger and pettiness after a breakup while "Eleven Eleven" reminisces on the memories and love for the romantic pattern that is no longer present – but wishes upon every power to get that love back.

The fan responses have been overwhelming. Concerts on his “Wishbone Tour” have sold out across multiple cities, with fans singing the lyrics word for word. Along with the growth in his lyrics, Gray’s stage presence has also grown immensely, while still portraying the charismatic awkwardness that makes the rising star and his music so relatable to his audience.
