Dear CO-OP Students and Families,

We are excited to welcome everyone back tomorrow, Monday, August 31, for the first day of the 2026–2027 school year!

A few important reminders for the morning:

CO-OP opens at 7:00 AM for breakfast in the cafeteria, and the school day ends at 2:05 PM.

Students should enter through CO-OP Lane and go through the security check.

Schedules and Yondr pouches will be distributed before classes begin.

A QR code will be provided for students to register their Yondr pouch before placing their phone inside and securing it for the day.

Grade 9 students will pick up schedules in the Foyer; Grades 10–12 will pick up schedules in the Gym.

The bell will ring at 7:25 AM for students to report to class.

Tomorrow is an ODD Day, with Periods 1, 3, 5, and 7. Teachers will let students know their assigned lunch wave.

Students should also remember that attendance matters from day one. Being present, on time, and ready to learn helps students stay on track academically and toward graduation.

Our staff will be throughout the building to help students with schedules, Yondr registration, classrooms, and any first-day questions.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and beginning another great year together.

We are excited to welcome everyone back as we prepare for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

As a reminder, our orientation sessions will follow the traditional grade-level schedule, but all CO-OP families are welcome to attend whichever session best fits their schedule:

All sessions will be held in the CO-OP Main Theatre. Families should enter through the College Street and Crown Street entrance.

PowerSchool will open for parents, guardians, and students on Monday, August 24, 2026. Please remember that student schedules are subject to change as we balance class enrollment and staff caseloads in preparation for the start of the school year.

The first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2026. Students may begin arriving at 7:00 AM for breakfast and schedule distribution.

Graduation Rehearsal

Graduation rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Seniors should report to CO-OP by 8:00 am and meet in the cafeteria. Students will walk over to the Shubert Theatre at 9:30 am. Please arrive on time.

Senior Breakfast — Students Only

Senior Breakfast will be held at the Omni on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 9:00 am.

Caps and gowns, yearbooks, graduation tickets, and other graduation items will be distributed at this event. All school-issued devices and materials must be returned in order for students to receive their graduation items.

Senior Yearbooks

Senior yearbooks will be distributed during the Senior Breakfast on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Graduation and Diploma Pickup

Graduation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Shubert Theatre.

Graduates should arrive at CO-OP by 12:00 pm and assemble in the cafeteria. Please arrive on time.

Diplomas may be picked up after graduation at the Main Entrance of CO-OP on College Street.

Families are encouraged to review the schedule carefully and make sure students arrive on time each day with any materials needed for their exams and graduation activities. Thank you for your continued support as we close out the school year.

CO-OP students in Grades 9, 10, and 11 are invited to participate in the Lake Compounce field trip to Bristol, CT on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Students will depart CO-OP at 9:00 a.m. and return at approximately 5:00 p.m., and families should arrange for 5:00 p.m. pickup at CO-OP. The cost of the trip is $70 cash only, which includes admission, bus transportation, and this year’s all-you-can-eat private picnic. Permission slips are available on the wall outside of Room S417 and must be returned to Mr. Bella with payment. Space is limited, with 88 seats available, and students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis once a completed permission slip and payment are submitted. Students must meet the permission requirements listed on the form, including strong attendance, no suspensions, and passing all classes. Please reach out to Mr. Bella with any questions. CO-OP’s 9th Grade Theatre proudly presents The Day the Internet Died on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with performances at 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM in the Black Box Theater at 177 College Street. Written by Ian McWethy and Jason Pizzarello and directed by Valerie Vollono and Sumiah Gay ’16, this production will showcase the energy, creativity, and talent of our freshman theatre students. As always, all guests should enter through the College and Crown Street entrance. Tickets are cash only. The 2:30 PM show is free for students and $10 for adults, and the 6:30 PM show is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets are available in the arts office during lunch waves and at the door, while supplies last. This show will sell out. This special event will celebrate the induction of student artists into the National Arts Honor Society and showcase outstanding student artwork as part of the gallery opening.

The gallery will remain open during performances from March 25 through May 7. SAT Day for Classified Juniors – Thursday, March 26, 2026

CO-OP High School’s classified juniors in the Class of 2027 will participate in SAT Day on Thursday, March 26, beginning promptly at 8:00 AM. Students should arrive on time and bring their fully charged school-issued device for testing. Room assignments will be shared in Google Classroom, and testing tickets will be issued on the day of the exam. Students are also encouraged to prepare and practice in Bluebook in advance. We wish all of our juniors the very best as they show what they know on SAT Day!

Families and community members are invited to purchase a CO-OP High School Yearbook Ad to celebrate a graduating senior or promote a business. Ads are cash only and available in the following sizes: Full Page ($150; 8.5” x 11”), Half Page ($85; 8.5” x 5.5”), or Quarter Page ($70; 4.25” x 5.5”). Given the forecast for additional snow during school arrival times tomorrow morning, and because crews must continue the work of cleaning up after Monday’s blizzard, Cooperative Arts & Humanities Magnet High School (CO-OP) will be closed on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

All New Haven Public Schools will be closed. This includes all before- and after-school programs.

We must continue our work to ensure safe conditions for students and staff before reopening. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as city and district teams work to make roads, sidewalks, and school facilities safe.
